ERS Award for Lifetime Achievement in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension 2015

Professor Andrew Peacock founded and directs the Scottish Pulmonary Vascular Unit. Set up in 1990, the Unit began to be formally funded by the National Services Division of the Scottish Executive in 1998 and currently serves all patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH) in Scotland. He has chaired the ERS Pulmonary Vascular Group and written over 200 articles and reviews on PH. Professor Peacock is currently the chief editor of Pulmonary Circulation: diseases and their treatments now in its 3rd edition with the 4th edition in preparation. He teaches and examines for the Royal College of Physicians and the University of Glasgow and he has lectured in PH all over the world.

Professor Stephen Holgate, Chair of the ERS Scientific Council, said: "Professor Peacock's Scottish Pulmonary Vascular Unit serves every pulmonary hypertension patient in Scotland and his research has a global impact. We are proud to have such a distinguished clinician and researcher as head of the ERS School in Pulmonary Vascular Disease."

ERS offers a €10,000 award to an investigator in recognition of lifetime achievements, advances and successful research in the field of pulmonary arterial hypertension. The award is reserved for ERS Members and is to be used for further research. This prize is financially supported by Actelion Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Professor Peacock will be presented with the ERS Award for Lifetime Achievement in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension on Sunday 27 September, 2015 from 14:45 in Room 7.1. The Ceremony will be followed by Year in Review: Interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary embolism and sleep apnoea.
