ERS Pulmonary Hypertension Research Award 2016
Presented to: Dr David Montani
David Montani, MD, PhD is Associate Professor at the French National Referral Centre for Pulmonary Hypertension in the Department of Respiratory Medicine headed by Pr Gérald Simonneau, at the Hôpital Bicetre, France. His main research interest is in the field of pulmonary vascular diseases. He has had extensive clinical and basic research experience, particularly in pulmonary veno-occlusive disease (PVOD), genetics of pulmonary vascular diseases, pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) associated with orphan pulmonary diseases and drug-induced PAH/PVOD. Dr Montani is currently involved in laboratory-based research at the INSERM U999 laboratory, led by Prof. Marc Humbert and he is also member of editorial board of European Respiratory Journal. In 2012, was awarded the Sir John Vane Award for his work, "C-kit positive cells accumulate in remodelled vessels of idiopathic pulmonary hypertension", published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. Dr Montani has also been a recipient of the Junior Researcher & Investigator Award in the 4th (2008) and 5th (2013) World Congress on Pulmonary Hypertension. During the last decade, Dr Montani has demonstrated high productivity in both clinical and basic research in pulmonary vascular diseases and has published >100 peer-reviewed papers in the field. His past studies have led to significant advances in our understanding of the basic pathophysiology and clinical phenotypes of pulmonary veno-occlusive disease. |
