ERS Yernault Lecture Award 2016

Simonds 055 Presented to: Professor Anita K. Simonds

Professor Anita K. Simonds is both a consultant and professor in respiratory sleep medicine. Initially trained in anaesthetics and intensive care medicine, she moved to respiratory medicine after a period of research in ventilator failure in patients with restrictive disorders.

After becoming Editor of Breathe in 2006, Professor Simonds became involved in the ERS HERMES project – in particular adult respiratory medicine, respiratory sleep medicine and respiratory critical care. She was appointed Chair of the ERS Education Committee in 2010 and has organised and taken part in numerous educational courses including the NIV course and ERS Summer Schools.

She was also involved in the creation of the ERS NIV simulator and is currently the lead of the EU pandemic project 'PREPARE'.

Additionally, she has co-edited a number of ERS Handbooks and is the inaugural Chief Editor of ERJ Open Research.
