Early career members

A significant number of ERS members are in the early stages of their career and we are committed to providing development opportunities in both respiratory medicine and science – alongside networking and mentorship opportunities, which are invaluable to this group.

This year's ERS International Congress delivers on those commitments as it offers a forum for individuals beginning their respiratory careers to meet and discuss relevant topics with experienced and highly accomplished respiratory professionals, as well as their immediate peers. We invite all ERS early career members to join us for the popular 'ERS Young Scientists Networking Evening'.

Additionally, the 'Early career session: ERS activities and opportunities for young scientists', will cover topics such as advancing your career with ERS, ERS fellowships, abstracts and much more.

We are also offering a number of professional development workshops as part of our comprehensive educational programme, which are particularly valuable to our early career members because they provide practical tips and guidelines on selected topics and procedures led by experts in the field. These will take place alongside the usual organised sessions and grand rounds.

Dr Lieuwe Bos, Chair of the Early Career Members Committee, highlights: "The ERS annual conference is the place to learn about the latest developments in pulmonary medicine. It is also a great opportunity for early career members to present their work and meet their peers from all over Europe and the world. We can look forward to an excellent programme with several sessions especially aimed at early career members. There is even an early career afternoon followed by a networking event where I hope to see and speak to as many of my peers as possible!"

We would like to highlight the following activities in particular, but would encourage early career members to view the full programme and search for sessions and courses according to their field of interest.

If you are interested in getting involved with the early career members' committee, please contact your Assembly Head or Assembly ECM representative, noted here.

Note: Educational sessions (postgraduate courses, skills workshops, challenging clinical cases, professional development workshops and meet the expert sessions) can be attended at an additional cost to the standard registration fee.
