ERS Award Winners 2018

Each year at Congress, ERS presents a number of prestigious awards to recognise the achievements of a select group of leaders in the field of respiratory medicine. The full list of recipients and the details of their award are as follows:

	ERS Presidential Award Presented to: Professor Charis Roussos The Presidential Award is presented by ERS to recognise an outstanding contribution to the strengthening of respiratory medicine worldwide. Learn more.
	ERS Congress Chair Award Presented to: Professor Philippe Delaval The ERS Congress Chair award is awarded this year as a marker of the awardees commitment to the care of patients with lung disorders and their contribution to research and training in this area. Learn more.
	ERS Gold Medal in Asthma Presented to: Dr Peter Gibson The ERS Gold Medal in Asthma recognises a researcher who has made an outstanding contribution in the field of asthma and who is currently pursuing an active research project in asthma. Learn more.
	ERS Gold Medal in COPD Presented to: Professor Michael Polkey The ERS Gold Medal in COPD recognises a researcher who has made an outstanding contribution in the field of COPD and who is currently pursuing an active research project in COPD. Learn more.
	ERS Gold Medal in Interstitial Lung Disease Presented to: Professor Bruno Crestani The ERS Gold Medal in ILD recognises a researcher who has made an outstanding contribution in the field of ILD and who is currently pursuing an active research project in ILD. Learn more.
	ERS Educational Award Presented to: Professor Philip H. Quanjer This award honours a European respiratory health professional who has made a contribution of extraordinary magnitude to education in respiratory medicine at a European or international level. Learn more.

	ERS Romain Pauwels Research Award Presented to: Professor Jodie Simpson This award is presented for excellence in achievements in clinical research on airway diseases such as asthma and related conditions, or other respiratory diseases. Learn more.
	ERS Award for Lifetime Achievement in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Presented to: Professor Marc Humbert This award recognises lifetime achievements, advances and successful research in the field of pulmonary arterial hypertension. Learn more.
	ERS Research Award: Innovation In Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria Science And Medicine Presented to: Dr Michael Loebinger The award is offered to one awardee who is both a researcher and is pursuing an active research project in the NTM lung disease field. Learn more.
	ERS Excellence Award For Research in Cystic Fibrosis Presented to: Dr Sanja Stanojevic The ERS Excellence Award for Research in Cystic Fibrosis grants €7,500 to the recipient. This award is offered to one awardee who is both a researcher and is pursuing an active research project in cystic fibrosis science and medicine. Learn more.
