ERS Green Initiative
As lung health depends on the quality of the air we breathe, it is the duty of ERS to reduce its environmental footprint as much as possible and to inspire more sustainable behaviour among Congress sponsors and participants.
Since the 2014 ERS Congress, held in Munich, ERS has implemented measures to minimise its environmental impact and has reduced its consumption by:
10 tonnes of cotton: no more Congress bags 126 tonnes of paper: no more printed Congress Guides, Breathe Magazines, or Congress bag inserts 207 million litres of water [equivalent to drinking water for 600,000 people for one year] 212 tonnes of CO2 emissions [equivalent energy use of an average household for 18 years] Significant savings related to production, shipment and waste management |
Note: ERS only works with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) accredited paper, and all of the printers we use follow various environmental commitments that they have signed up to (i.e. recycling printer plates, environmentally friendly ink, etc).
