Welcome to the virtual media centre for the ERS International Congress 2019, Madrid.

The European Respiratory Society (ERS) welcomes the interest of the press in respiratory issues and is happy to provide assistance to journalists attending the Congress or using the Congress website as a resource in their coverage.

Registration

Registration is free of charge to journalists who are in possession of a valid, recognised press card and who are actively reporting on the ERS International Congress. Freelance journalists must also present a commissioning letter on headed paper from a recognised news organisation or publication, outlining their reason for attendance.

Media registration in advance is strongly recommended. ERS welcomes a maximum of three journalists and two camera crew members per media outlet. The decision of the ERS Press Office is final regarding all press registration requests.

Facilities

During the Congress, journalists are welcome to use the Press Working Area within the ERS Press Centre. This space has a limited number of computers, as well as printers, high-speed internet access and free Wi-Fi.

Interview Rooms located in the Press Centre can be booked for 30-minute slots to conduct  and film private interviews. Please contact Beth Maguire to arrange bookings.

Light refreshments and snacks will be available throughout the Congress.

Restricted access

Please note that there is strictly no filming or photography permitted in the Exhibition Hall or Poster Area, and press must gain permission from the session organisers to enter industry organised symposia.

Video or audio recording during a scientific presentation or session during an ERS event is strictly prohibited. Video recording or photography in the Exhibition Hall and Poster Area is strictly forbidden.

Opening times

The press working area will be open to registered members of the press only at the following times:

  • Saturday, 28 September: 12:00 - 17:00
  • Sunday, 29 September - Tuesday, 1 October: 08:00 - 19:00
  • Wednesday, 2 October: 08:00 - 13:00

ERS Policies

Photo/Video/Audio recording requests

Press do not require permission to film, photograph or capture audio in the following locations:

  • Outside the main entrance to the Congress centre (non-obstructive of doors or walkways)
  • Press working area
  • Press conference room
  • Press interview rooms

Strictly no filming or photography is permitted in the Exhibition Hall or Poster Area. Please read the ERS Media and Embargo Policy for full details on restrictions and the permissions required to Photo/Video/Audio record in sessions.

Media outlets or press representatives who wish to film, take photos and / or record during scientific sessions at the ERS Congress in restricted areas must complete a filming request form. Only registered press delegates are entitled to apply for and receive a filming and photography pass. If approved, press representatives will be given a badge for a specific time and location.
