ERS Gold Medal in Interstitial Lung Disease 2019
The ERS Gold Medal in Interstitial Lung Disease grants €50,000 to a researcher who has made an outstanding contribution in the field of ILD and who is currently pursuing an active research project in ILD. This prize is financially supported by Boehringer Ingelheim.
Professor Harold Collard
Harold Collard is Associate Vice Chancellor of Clinical Research and Professor in Residence in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine at UCSF, Director of the UCSF Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), and Director of the UCSF Interstitial Lung Disease Program. Over the last 15 years, Prof. Collard has produced seminal articles on the epidemiology, natural history, and management of interstitial lung diseases, and he is an internationally recognized clinical researcher and trialist. He has had extensive experience designing and leading both NIH-funded and industry-sponsored clinical trials, from small, single centre pharmacokinetic studies to large multicentre registration studies. Prof. Collard has trained over a dozen clinical and translational research fellows (he is a recipient of a K24 award in patient-oriented research) who are now leading academic research programs in lung fibrosis around the world. As Associate Vice Chancellor of Clinical Research and Director of the UCSF CTSI, Prof. Collard is responsible for providing clinical researcher faculty, staff and trainees with institutional support and resources to enable their work. |
