ERS Excellence Award For Research in Cystic Fibrosis 2019

The ERS Excellence Award for Research in Cystic Fibrosis to the recipient. This award grants €7,500 to one awardee who is both a researcher and is pursuing an active research project in Cystic Fibrosis Science and Medicine. This prize is financially supported by Vertex.

Professor Scott Bell

Scott BELL Excellence Award for Research in Cystic FibrosisProfessor Scott Bell is Executive Director – Research, MNHHS; Executive Director – Heart and Lung Stream and a Senior Physician of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre at TPCH where he has worked since 1996.

He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Cystic Fibrosis. He leads the Lung Bacteria Laboratory at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. Scott has peer-reviewed more than 230 publications and has received grant support of more than $16 million over the past ten years.

His research interests include the CF microbiology, acquisition pathways for human infection and has a long history of supporting multi-disciplinary research. He has been PI on numerous pivotal CFTR modulator trials and is global PI on a novel approach to combination therapies for CFTR correction.

The ceremony for the ERS Excellence Award for Research in Cystic Fibrosis will take place during 'Future of cystic fibrosis care: insights from the Lancet Commission', taking place on Sunday 29 September, 2019 from 14.45 to 16.45 2019 in Hall 9D
